وَعائِدٍ هُوَ سَقَمٌ

لِكُلِّ جِسمٍ صَحيحِ

لِكُلِّ جِسمٍ صَحيحِ

And a visitor who is a sickness

And he is a disease returning

To every healthy body:

لا بِالإِشارَةِ يَدري

لا بِالإِشارَةِ يَدري

وَلا الكَلامِ الصَريحِ

وَلا الكَلامِ الصَريحِ

He understands neither hints

He does not know by gesture

Nor plain speech,

Nor explicit words

وَلَيسَ يَخرُجُ حَتّى

وَلَيسَ يَخرُجُ حَتّى

تَكادَ تَخرُجُ روحي

تَكادَ تَخرُجُ روحي

And does not leave until

And does not leave until

My soul is about to depart.

You are about to breathe your last
