ويcompletion of 'faults' كُلِّهاall of them مُحتَوِيَهencompassing
And a horse, with faults—
A horse on all of the plains
all of them contained within it.
Encompassing them in their entirety
فَماSo … not مَساويهاits faults لِمَنfor whoever
عَدَّدَهاcounts them مُنتَهِيَهending; finite
So its faults, for anyone
So what are its plains compared to one
who counts them, have no end.
Who has numbered its limits?
وَلَيسَAnd there is no فيهاin it خَصلَةٌa trait
واحِدَةٌa single one مُستَوِيَهsound; well-formed
And there is no trait in it
And in it there is not a single trait
that is sound—not a single one.
That is balanced.
ياOh قُبحَهاits ugliness مُقبِلَةًapproaching
وَقُبحَهاand its ugliness مُوَلِّيَهturning away
How ugly it is as it approaches,
How ugly is its approach!
and how ugly as it turns away!
And how ugly is its departure!

Its owner, from sheer embarrassment,
Its owner is embarrassed
is as though in disgrace.
As if he is in disgrace.

Riding it is deemed repugnant,
Riding it is as despised
like committing a sin.
As committing sin.
