قَرُبَت دارُنا وَلَم يُفِدِ القُر
بُcompletion of ‘nearness’ اِجتِماعاًa meeting فَلاso not نَلومُwe blame البُعاداseparation
بُ اِجتِماعاً فَلا نَلومُ البُعادا
Our dwelling drew near, yet nearness did not bring
a meeting, so we do not blame separation.
كانَwas ذاكَthat البُعادُseparation أَروَحُmore restful لِلقَلfor the heart (word continues)
كانَ ذاكَ البُعادُ أَروَحُ لِلقَل
بِcompletion of ‘heart’ لِأَنَّbecause الغَرامَpassion بِالقُربِwith nearness زاداincreased
بِ لِأَنَّ الغَرامَ بِالقُربِ زادا
That separation was more restful for the
heart, for passion grew with nearness.
