وَرَقيبٍand a watcher عَدِمتُهُmay I be rid of him مِنof رَقيبٍa watcher
وَرَقيبٍ عَدِمتُهُ مِن رَقيبٍ
أَسوَدِblack الوَجهِthe face وَالقَفاand the nape وَالصِفاتِand the traits
أَسوَدِ الوَجهِ وَالقَفا وَالصِفاتِ
And a watcher—may I be rid of such a watcher—
Guard I have lost, from guard
Black of face, nape, and character.
Dark of face, nape and traits
هُوَhe كَاللَيلِlike the night فيin الظَلامِthe darkness وَعِنديand to me
هُوَ كَاللَيلِ في الظَلامِ وَعِندي
هُوَhe كَالصُبحِlike dawn قاطِعُcutting short اللَذاتِthe pleasures
هُوَ كَالصُبحِ قاطِعُ اللَذاتِ
He is like night in darkness, yet to me
He's as night in the darkness when with me
He is like dawn, cutting pleasures short.
He's as dawn dispelling pleasures
