وَجاهِلٍ أَصبَحَ لِيَ عاتِباً

قُلتُ عَلى العَينَينِ وَالراسِ

A fool began reproaching me;

And an ignorant man began reproaching me;

I said, “Upon my eyes and my head.”

أَراهُ قَد عَرَّضَ لي عِرضَهُ

أُشهِدُكُم يامَعشَرَ الناسِ

I see that he has exposed his honor to me—
