A letter from you reached me, bearing favors.
A letter has come to me from you, bearing gifts
And I never imagined that sheets of paper could contain the sea.
Though it was not empty, for the sea holds its pages
وَإِنّيand indeed I عَلىfor ذاكَthat الجَميلِkindness لَشاكِرٌtruly grateful
وَإِنّيand indeed I إِلىtoward ذاكَthat الجَمالِbeauty لَمُشتاقُtruly longing
And I am indeed grateful for that kindness.
And I, for that beauty, am thankful
And I do indeed long for that beauty.
And I, for that grace, do yearn
