سَيِّدي يَومُكَ هَذا

لَيسَ يَخفى عَنكَ رَسمُه

My master this day of yours

Its pattern is not hidden from you

قُم بِنا قَد طَلَعَ الفَج

رُ وَقَد أَشرَقَ نَجمُه

Rise with us, dawn has risen

And its star has shone

عِندَنا وَردٌ جَنِيٌّ

يُنعِشُ المَيِّتَ شَمُّه

We have a picked rose

Whose smell revives the dead

وَلَدَينا ذَلِكَ الضَي

فُ الَّذي عِندَكَ عِلمُه

And we have that guest

Whose knowledge is with you

وَلَنا ساقٍ رَشيقٌ

أَحوَرُ الطَرفِ أَحَمُّه

And we have a slender leg

Round of glance, reddish of complexion

وَخِوانٌ يَعبَقُ المِس

كُ بِرَيّاهُ وَطَعمُه

And friends whose musk bag smells

With its basil and its taste

وَأَخٌ يُرضيكَ مِنهُ

فَضلُهُ الجَمُّ وَفَهمُه

And a brother who pleases you

With his excellence, totality and understanding

كامِلُ الظَرفِ أَديبٌ

شامِخُ الأَنفِ أَشَمُّه

Perfect of manner, cultured

Lofty of nose, prestigious

حَسَنُ العِشرَةِ لا يَأ

تيكَ مِنهُ ما تَذُمُّه

Good company, does not come to you

From him what you would blame

وَمُغَنَ زيرُه أَط

رَبُ مَسموعٍ وَبَمُّه

And a singer whose voice is melodious

Audible and with perfect intonation

وَسُرورٌ لَيسَ شَيءٌ

غَيرَ رُؤياكَ يُتِمُّه

And a joy that nothing else

Completes it but your sight

فَأَجِب دَعوَةَ داعٍ

أَنتَ مِن دُنياهُ سَهمُه

So answer the call of a caller

You are his only aim in life

فَإِذا جِئتَ وَغابَ ال

ناسُ طُرّاً لا يُهِمُّه

So when you come and people are distracted

Not caring at all
