  1. يقتلني باللحظ من لحظه

    يظهر منه أثر الخدشِ

    He kills me with a look—he whose glance

    leaves the mark of a scratch.

  2. في نفرة الوحش كما أنه

    في حسنه يحكي ظبا الوحش

    He is as skittish as wild beasts, just as he

    in his beauty resembles the gazelles of the wild.

  3. قولي إذا أبصرته ماشياً

    سبحان ربي خالق العرش

    When I see him walking, my words are:

    “Glory be to my Lord, Creator of the Throne.”
