يا حريصاً على الغنى

قاعداً بالمراصدِ

O you who are eager for wealth,

sitting at the lookout posts,

لست في سعيك الذي

لست في سعيك الذي

خضت فيه بقاصد

خضت فيه بقاصد

you are not, in the striving that

you have plunged into, keeping a measured course.

إن دنياك هذه

إن دنياك هذه

لستَ فيها بخالد

لستَ فيها بخالد

Indeed, this world of yours—

you will not live in it forever.

بعضَ هذا فإنما

بعضَ هذا فإنما

أنت ساع لقاعدِ

أنت ساع لقاعدِ

Ease off this, for it is only

for one who sits idle that you strive.
