1. O humpbacked with stooped necks,
With slender snouts and tails,

2. With delicate ears and paws,
Equipped with canines and claws,

3. Created for corruption since vermin were made,
For villainy, harm and havoc were they.

4. Burrowers in earth, ceiling and wall,
Burrows beyond counting they install.

5. Devourers of all edibles, nothing escapes,
Drinkers of every potion in shapely carafes.

6. Gnawers of clothes, and at times
They match the gnawing of hearts by gnawing garbs.

7. My worries were compounded by the papers
Of the Turkish cats, the Protectors of gowns.

8. A savage in nature and character, one who saw him
Said he's a jungle beast.

9. A porcupine in conceit, a wolf at deceit,
A snake in his sly gait.

10. Spying all corners, ceilings and doors,
Lying in wait to get his chompers

11. On a quarry if he wins a war,
Else he’s happy with the crumbs in his paws.

12. Dragging prey faster than a blink,
Even if the prey is high as you think.

13. They crowned and collared him,
And either way dyed him red.

14. One day he skulks like the train of a bride,
Another he plods like a lizard outside.
