1. O Ali, you who ascended above what I can describe
Do not apologize, I admit being at fault

2. You are the one whose etiquette’s validity is its validity
So if you complain, glory and honor complain

3. If you complain, the complaint does not bring harm
Comes, then follows with reward, then leaves

4. And the stars of the night never cease to be covered
By a little cloud cover, then revealed

5. And the moon, the palm of eclipse touches it but
Its touch does not harm it and the sun hides

6. God has a rhyme I gifted with burdensome favor
With the affection of burdensome responsibility, nothing beyond it burdensome

7. A rhyme that became small in the heart of its listener
Did the alive face the womb of good news or were they unyielding

8. Love it as a gift, if it did not contain
The complaint of its consequences for the complainer a gift

9. You split my back with a verse whose last part
The channel of my back almost splits from me

10. But God is gentle with hopes in you so
Neither violence nor force reaches them through you

11. And time is fair so that you remain seen
Like the full moon almost halfway through the month

12. Glory - your father, the father of Ishaq - began it
And glory - its origin and edge are equal in it

13. The creations of the eras of time are purified through you
As the creations in them are dates and chaff

14. And time dresses itself from wonder at you in armor
Yet wonder and armor are not of its making

15. What do I say to those the supreme stood for
Girded with dream, cloaked in dream

16. Those whose love of the Messenger of God is their religion
A religion through which they became known amongst people since they were known

17. And every beautiful description has remained dispersed
Agreed upon regarding them and reconciled

18. O father of Muhammed - gone to a span
Of virtues each of which stops before it

19. My support from the clan of Bustam is severed
So you are to me from the clan of Bustam succession

20. Most generous of uncle and brother you stood between them
As the thousand letter stands to amend them

21. The people of leadership but people of politics - no
Inclination or injustice mixed into their politics

22. As if their pens against those opposing them
Were deep black and white swishing amidst the ink pots

23. You reached the utmost supreme before coming of age indeed
You went too far where - by my life - going too far is praiseworthy

24. I count eleven years of your age passed
You attained in pride what forebears cannot attain

25. You compose, reciting poetry whose hearing from its ringing
Ears do not awaken, what sea shells do not awaken to

26. Every day for us from its meadows is a flower
But it is an intellectual flower plucked

27. If browsed we do not tire of browsing it
Not like those whose wordings papers have mixed up

28. By God you are young - your mind a mountain
By God you are a boy - his patience half

29. In every rope of etiquette a gatherer of wood
From every sea of etiquette drawing water

30. So submit for nothing is beyond you if
You submit - I sacrifice myself without gloom or sorrow
