1. No matter how your soul extols your virtues,
You, Abu Amr, are worthier of what it describes.

2. O philosopher, the philosopher acknowledges him,
Wearing unmatched honor and nobility.

3. Hippocrates’ sea is but a handful drawn
From your tumultuous, boundless sea.

4. Divert not the cure to the disease, but
Point to it, and the disease will be diverted.

5. How many deluded ones have you guided,
As though unaware since creation of delusion.

6. And a fearful one, whom you never cease to console,
His nation consoled, freed from all fear.

7. You are the epitome of human virtue and nobility,
Graced not by generosity and clemency alone.

8. Every day you excessively bestow gifts,
Generously - thus generosity is deemed finest.

9. After this, you have clad me in blessings,
So add no more, what I have is enough.
