1. Wandering on the soft sands,
No path deterred by rocky terrains

2. Wandering to visit the lands
That nurtured virtues, not in vain

3. There lies the abode of the righteous ones
Belonging to the clan of purity

4. Wearing the garb of faith, shunning evil
The best of garments, in truth be

5. Those frequented by divine glory
In the evenings and at dawn

6. They sipped the pride of Ghawth
With minarets rising like spears

7. Gifts of grace raising heads
Above all other gifts outspread

8. They passed by the death place of the youth
Slain by the sword of death, forsooth

9. Decay seized them and seized
The sons of this world with decay

10. Their throwing hands were paralyzed
As arrows shot go astray

11. Against them a case was ruled
No case more mockery displayed

12. No executor cared, no guardianship availed
No wills were obeyed

13. My tears flowed like blood
By sorrow’s hand in tides

14. The Prophet's son, embalmed
And Fatima's daughters, captives made

15. Dragged to evil authority
Those mansions no more their shade

16. O band of disgraceful ones
Evil since evil your grade

17. Your villainy made us
Utter the vile of this world

18. His head offered to the worst
Of creations, when severed

19. None who drank Euphrates
Gulped it down as told

20. When fires of guidance extinguished
Only fires spread

21. He knew not the dripping tears
Of the bereaved ladies

22. By God, my anguish will not be masked
Nor the secrets stay shaded

23. With Hussein's staff did Yazid
Beat the shoulders he had invaded

24. So heap what shamed the Prophet
And his Trustee, are you elated?

25. Yes, and may curses find
The worst of creations, degraded

26. Do not tread, for to slander Hussein
Is the gravest sins accumulated

27. High regard I have for him
So my plights are alleviated

28. I bewail him at dawn and dusk
Amidst ruins and darkness fated

29. So lament the People of Ahmad
For they are the best when created

30. Martyred by transgressors
Though they were just when executing
