واعتاضَ حجَّاماً أذُلاَّ بعد عِزّ

٣. أسودَ مثلَ التيسِ هبَّ في المَعِز
ذا جُونَةٍ فيها القواريرُ لُزَز
4. Like a gourd filled with geese
To the combs that lined up the eyebrows of Qaz
٤. كبركةٍ مملوءةٍ من الإوزّ
إلى مشاريطَ حكَت أهداب قَزّ
5. To the refuge, nothing beside it he touched but withered
As if the rhyme scheme of his contract was a rhyme scheme of beads
٥. إلى مواسٍ ما عداها لمسُ خَزّ
كأَنَّ نظْمَ شَرْطِهِ نظمُ خَرَز
6. He doesn't trill the meem when the ghayn trills
He was admired by one mounted on white who spurred
٦. لا يهمزُ المصَّ إِذا الغرُّ هَمَزْ
أعجِب به من فَوقِ أبيض احتفز
7. How strange is this one whose hand is thrust in the saddle bags
As if he were a lamb herder in a bouquet of flowers
٧. فأيْرُ هذا في استِ ذا قد انغرز
كأَنه كُراعُ عَنْزٍ في أَرُزّ
