1. Enough of blame and censure for you
And of prolonged threats and intimidation

2. And of vitriolic satire that inflames
And burns beneath one’s dignity

3. You have now grown a beard
And sit among the revered elders

4. You have shamed poetry, after so long
Tormenting it, even after maturation

5. How many gifts deserved in full
Were reduced to meager ration

6. O Ibn Ridha, seize what you wish
Of snippets and tail ends of creation
