1. O you who live near my heart though distance parts us,
And though homes fail to bring us close,

2. Imagination made you present when patience failed me;
I see you whenever longing and thoughts of you arise.

3. If we feel the nearness of a loved one, proximity's ours,
A womb, bent by affection, curved by neighborhood,

4. And mixing like scent blended into rose-oil,
Purity not to be obscured for sunlight's never obscured.

5. O Abu Bakr the carpenter - what's a carpenter
When nobility's your merit and virtue's your ware?

6. Yours is bounty. I've done no wrong. Oppression's disgrace.
Your hands have flooded me with oceans, ocean on ocean

7. For shielding me from people's eyes by sheltering me.
If I fail in thanks, say "This is a dumb ass."

8. The glorious you gladly clothed, ennobled the lowly.
A father whom glory adorned and dignity clad.

9. A place round which the caravans of grandeur turn
When mighty caravans lose their way.

10. An axis whose orbit is circled by the axis of glory.
O clan of Asim, your feud's confined you to remoteness

11. While we care not, now left with the outcasts.
