1. Winter has made my abode pleasant for me
Is there anything like something that makes homes pleasant?
١. طيَّبَ داري ليَ الشتاءُ وهلْ
شيءٌ كشيءٍ يُطَيِّبُ الدُّورا
2. With the courtyard, roof, sitting area and porch
I have not ceased being delighted
٢. بالصَّحْنِ والسَّطْحِ والمجالِس وال
رواقِ ما إِنْ أَزالُ مسرورا
3. And with the gardens that meander through
The flowerbeds of the meadows blooming
٣. وبالحياضِ التي تتيهُ على
مُحَبَّراتِ الرياضِ تحبيرا
4. By God, one day the clouds gathered there
Cut off its sun and erected a wall for us
٤. لله يومٌ هناكَ قد ضَرَبَ ال
غيمُ لنا دونَ شَمْسِهِ سُورا
5. A day when our troubles competed
With their bugle calls
٥. يومٌ مآزيبنا مُعَارِضَةٌ
فيه بأَصواتِها الطَّنابيرا
6. And the clouds were preoccupied with blessing us
Molded from their water, pitchers
٦. والسُّحْبُ مشغولةٌ بِبِرْكَتنا
تصوغُ من مائها قواريرا
7. And the cup was polished in experienced hands
Adorning the wine with crystals
٧. والكأسُ تُجْلَى على يَدَيْ رشأٍ
تكسو عقيقَ المُدامِ بَلُّورا
8. You'd think its cheeks and edges were musk
And beneath that was camphor
٨. تخالُ أصداغه وَطُرَّتَهَ
مِسْكاً وما تحتَ ذاك كافورا
9. O you who seek provision in winter, leave provision
To come in summer abundantly
٩. يا طالبَ الرزقِ في الشتاءِ دعِ الر
زقَ إلى الصيفِ يأتِ موفورا
10. These are the decrees, you cannot will
Your provision to exceed the decrees
١٠. هيَ المقاديرُ لستَ تَقْدِرُ أنْ
تَعْدُوَ أَرزاقُكَ المقاديرا
