Scents and inventions yet before

7. O Hashim's scions, no rest my eye knows
Without you here, tranquility's no more

8. Time has wronged me since we parted
In the harm of your loss evermore

9. It marched on, my patience stayed not
As lovely as when you marched before

10. You stole my patience, Abu Muhammad
Can time leave me with patience still in store?

11. Neither you nor Abu Isa are near
Nor does Halab bring comforts as of yore

12. My eye will await you both steadfastly
For the gaze's recompense held in store

13. If days were sweet when you were here
Bitter again their taste is all the more

14. If not for Abu Bakr calming the fires
Of longing, their flames would roar and soar

15. May God reunite you before my eyes
And unite my greatest hopes once more

16. Unite my lance, sword and arrow I need
When triumph in battle I seek to score

17. The root, branch, and shoot that came to be
A spring when excellents came to fore

18. Abu Isa, did you not see us refuse
All heedless acts that prudence makes us deplore?

19. Since you were bent on leaving far away
We were bent on no visits, even more

20. Each day our love for you grows yet more dear
Until you return, as we hope and implore

21. So turn the vain hopes into fulfillment
Cast off the veil of blame, weep no more!
