O you who would restrain Fazārah, after they

Have prepared earnestly for a raid—you are only dreaming.

I see every noble man with a blood feud troubled by it,

And robbed of sleep by it, while you lie sleeping.

And I told stalwart young men: 'You are

Bold warriors, and life does not endure.

Fight a battle: [whoever] lives shall not be shamed afterward,

And whoever is cut down shall not be pursued by reproach.'

And will you, if you keep yourself far from them

To escape unharmed, be safe thereafter?
