فَمَولاكَfor your ally مَولىan ally السَوءِevil إِنif لَمnot يُغَيِّرِhe changes things
Ask your ally Qays ibn ʿĀṣim about it;
for your ally is a bad ally if he does not put things right.

By your life, I do not know: is it from Ḥazn of Miḥjan
that Shuʿayth ibn Sahm comes, or from Ḥazn ibn Minqar?
فَماfor … not أَنتَyou بِالمَولىan ally المُضَيَّعِneglected حَقُّهُhis due
وَماand … not أَنتَyou بِالجارِa neighbor الضَعيفِweak المُسَتَّرِkept hidden
For you are no ally whose due is neglected,
nor are you a weak neighbor kept hidden.
