It mingled crowns and flanks, and they gleamed;
The youths departed and turned away, so it flashed
From its blow at Qudays, the Persians suffered its heat.
From its impact at Qudus, its heat stung the non-Arabs

The battalions and the weary men failed, and both fled
The regiments and sorrows failed, and they recoiled
From a blow dealt by their Judge, the Arbiter.
From a slamming it slammed, ruled by its Judge, the Decisive

While they were at Jilya, having folded up their beddings
Safeguards swept upon them through the Helper's hands.
It leaned against them with the hands of the Victorious Protector

Would blow its waves, the souls and the bodies.

Al-Atiq was their resting place and battlefield;
The ancient was for them a dwelling and a battleground
There lay severed portions, limbs, and locks of hair.
In it the ordinances, the connections, and the blames.
