تُعَيرناyou taunt us بالنخلfor the date palms والنخلُand the date palms مالُناour wealth
تُعَيرنا بالنخل والنخلُ مالُنا
وودّand wished أبوكyour father الكلبُthe dog لوif only كانwas ذاpossessing نخْلِdate palms
وودّ أبوك الكلبُ لو كان ذا نخْلِ
You taunt us for our date palms, yet date palms are our wealth.
They taunt us with the palm trees, yet the palms are not ours
And your father, that dog, wished he had date palms.
Your father wished, were he a dog, that he owned palms
وأيand which نبيٍّprophet كانwas منfrom غيرother than قريةa town
وأي نبيٍّ كان من غير قرية
وهلand (question particle) كانwas حكُمjudgment اللهGod إلاّexcept معwith الرسْلِthe messengers
وهل كان حكُم الله إلاّ مع الرسْلِ
And what prophet was ever from anywhere but a town?
What prophet was there not from a village?
And was God's judgment ever with anyone but the messengers?
And has God's rule been other than that of the messengers?
