شقيقُ بن ثورٍ قام فينا بخطبة

يُحَدِّثها الرُكبَانُ أهلُ المشاعرِ

يُحَدِّثها الرُكبَانُ أهلُ المشاعرِ

Shaqiq ibn Thawr rose among us to deliver a speech,

Shaqeeq son of Thawr stood among us with an oration

which the riders, people of the sacred sites, recount,

That the travelers recount, people of holy places

بما لا يقف فينا خطيبُ بمثلها

بما لا يقف فينا خطيبُ بمثلها

جزى الله خيراً من خطيبٍ وناصرِ

جزى الله خيراً من خطيبٍ وناصرِ

with words whose like no orator among us stands up to deliver.

With what no orator among us can match

May God reward him well, as an orator and a supporter.

May God reward with goodness the orator and helper

وقد قام فينا خالد بنُ مُعَمرٍ

وقد قام فينا خالد بنُ مُعَمرٍ

وكُردوسٌ الحامي ذِمَارَ العشائرِ

وكُردوسٌ الحامي ذِمَارَ العشائرِ

And Khalid ibn Muʿammar also rose among us,

And Khaled ibn Mu'ammar stood among us

and Kurdus, defender of the clans’ honor,

And Kurdus, protector of the tribes’ glory

بمثل الذي جاءا بها حَذوَ نَعله

بمثل الذي جاءا بها حَذوَ نَعله

وقد بين الشورى حُريثُ بن جابرِ

وقد بين الشورى حُريثُ بن جابرِ

with the like of what they both brought, matching the pattern of his sandal.

Matching what they brought like the stride of his sandal

And Hurayth ibn Jabir clarified the matter of consultation.

And Hurayth ibn Jabir made clear the counsel

فلا يُبعَدِنكَ الدهر ما هّبت الصِّبا

فلا يُبعَدِنكَ الدهر ما هّبت الصِّبا

ولا زِلتَ مسقياً بأسحمَ ماطرِ

ولا زِلتَ مسقياً بأسحمَ ماطرِ

So may time never take you away, as long as the east wind blows,

So do not let time make you forget when the north winds blew

and may you always be watered by a black cloud pouring rain.

And you remained watered by pouring rains

ولا زلت تدعى في ربيعة أولاً

ولا زلت تدعى في ربيعة أولاً

بإسمك في أخرى الليالي الغوابرِ

بإسمك في أخرى الليالي الغوابرِ

And may you always be called first among Rabiʿa,

And you continued to be called in early spring

by your name, in the last of the nights yet to come.

By your name in the later dark stormy nights
