أَلاListen! أَبلِغِconvey النُعمانَal-Nu'man عَنّيfrom me رِسالَةًa message
أَلا أَبلِغِ النُعمانَ عَنّي رِسالَةً
فَمَجدُكَfor your glory حَولِيٌّa yearling وَلُؤمُكَand your baseness قارِحُa full-grown horse
فَمَجدُكَ حَولِيٌّ وَلُؤمُكَ قارِحُ
Listen! Convey a message from me to al-Nu'man:
Shall I convey a message to Nu'man from me
For your glory is a yearling, while your baseness is a full-grown steed.
For your glory surrounds me and your light blinds me
مَتىwhenever تَلقَنيyou meet me فيamong تَغلِبَTaghlib اِبنَةِdaughter of وائِلٍWa'il
مَتى تَلقَني في تَغلِبَ اِبنَةِ وائِلٍ
وَأَشياعِهاand her allies تَرقىadvance إِلَيكَtoward you المَسالِحُthe armed bands
وَأَشياعِها تَرقى إِلَيكَ المَسالِحُ
Whenever you meet me among Taghlib, daughter of Wa'il,
When will you meet me in Taghlib, daughter of Wael
And her allies, the armed bands will advance toward you.
With their swords raised up high towards you
