بِماof what لاقَتencountered سَراةُthe chiefs بَنيthe sons of العُبَيدِal-ʿUbayd
بِما لاقَت سَراةُ بَني العُبَيدِ
Have you not heard—as tidings spread—
Has not the news reached you, how the maidens of the 'Ubaid
of what befell the chiefs of Banu al-ʿUbayd?
Met with a fate for which no mortal ever hoped?
