By God, if you know nothing

By God, if you are unaware

of our exploits, then ask the tribe of Kalb about us—

أَيّامَ نَطعَنُهُم وَنَصدُقُهُم

أَيّامَ نَطعَنُهُم وَنَصدُقُهُم

في كُلِّ يَومِ كَريهَةٍ ضَربا

في كُلِّ يَومِ كَريهَةٍ ضَربا

of the days when we thrust spears at them and struck them true,

Of the days when we speared them and dealt them

with blows in every grim day of battle.

Blows in earnest on every day of battle.
