لَقَدsurely عَلِمَتknew عُلياthe noblest of رَبيعَةَRabīʿa أَنَّناthat we are
لَقَد عَلِمَت عُليا رَبيعَةَ أَنَّنا
ذُراهاits summits وَأَنّاand that we are حينَwhen تُنسَبُhas its lineage traced جيدُهاits neck
ذُراها وَأَنّا حينَ تُنسَبُ جيدُها
The noblest of Rabīʿa surely know that we are
its summits, and that, when lineage is traced, we are its neck.
وَماand not اِنفَكَّceased to be مِنّاamong us مُنذُsince كُنّاwe were عِمارَةًa clan
وَما اِنفَكَّ مِنّا مُنذُ كُنّا عِمارَةً
إِذاwhen الحَربُwar شالَتrose لاقِحاًpregnant مَنone who يَقودُهاleads it
إِذا الحَربُ شالَت لاقِحاً مَن يَقودُها
And ever since we became a clan, there has always been among us,
when war rises pregnant, one who leads it.
إِنif تَسأَليyou ask تُنبَيyou will be told بِأَنّاof our being خِيارُهاits finest
إِن تَسأَلي تُنبَي بِأَنّا خِيارُها
وَأَنّاand that we are الذُرىthe summits مِنهاof it وَأَنّاand that we are وَقودُهاits fuel
وَأَنّا الذُرى مِنها وَأَنّا وَقودُها
If you ask, you will be told that we are its finest,
and that we are its summits, and that we are its fuel.
