Visit Salma before she departs.
Visit Salma before she wearies of us,
Indeed, love for her is an abiding habit with us.
For our love of her is constant.

Salma is like a gazelle with a fawn,
Salma is like a young gazelle,
grazing among the curved sand dunes of Arzan.
Grazing the sand dunes of Arza.

She spreads thick, long, flowing hair over
She reveals a necklace, intoxicated,
her upper chest—black and luxuriant.
On her black breast our gift.

Salma and her neighbors know full well:
Salma and her neighbors know
No one but I brought the horseman down.
I alone adorn the knight.

I brandish the spear to protect
while the horses galloped in scattered bands between us.
As the horses race between us.
