ُحَضِّضُI urge قوميmy people باللقاءto battle ومعشريand my clan
وماand not زالَceased قوميmy people يَخضِبونَstain العَوالياthe long spears
I urge my people and my clan to battle,
I urge my people to meet and my companions,
And my people have never ceased staining their long spears.
And my people continue to dye the heights red,
وماand not حادَturned aside عنfrom جَمعَيthe two hosts of نَهاوَندَNahavand جَمعُناour host
وماand not زالceased قوميmy people يمنعونdefend المَوالياthe allies
And our host did not turn aside from Nahavand’s two hosts,
And my group has not strayed from our gathering,
And my people have never ceased defending their allies.
And my people continue to forbid the disloyal.
فإِنso if نلتُI received ماwhat نلتُI received الغَداةَthis morning فإِننيthen indeed I
لأَلقىI certainly encounter لدىamid الهيجاءِthe tumult of battle فيهاin it الدَواهياthe dreadful perils
So if I have received what I have received this morning, then indeed I
For if I attain what I attained at dawn,
Do face dreadful perils there amid the tumult of battle:
I will find among the excitements there the remedies.
فُيُولاًelephants أَراهاI see them كالجبالlike the mountains أَمامناbefore us
تُشَيِّبُmake gray منّاamong us فيin الحروبwars النَّواصياthe forelocks
Elephants I see like mountains before us,
So I see the armies before us like mountains
Which turn our forelocks gray in war.
Greying our forelocks in wars.
