وجموع أسعد اذ تقض رؤوسهم
بيضgleaming swords يطيرflies لوقعهنfrom their blows شرارsparks
بيض يطير لوقعهن شرار
And the hosts of Asʿad, when their heads were shattered
And happy crowds when their heads are smote
by gleaming swords whose blows sent sparks flying,
White birds that at their falling fly afar
حتىuntil إذاwhen عزمواthey resolved الفرارflight وأسلمواand abandoned
حتى إذا عزموا الفرار وأسلموا
بيضاًfair-skinned women حواصنchaste مالهنthey have no قرارrest
بيضاً حواصن مالهن قرار
until, when they resolved to flee and abandoned
Till having determined flight they surrendered
fair, chaste women with nowhere to rest,
White nestlings that have no rest or roosting bar
لحقتcaught up حفيظتناour protective zeal بهنwith them ولمand did not نزلwe cease
لحقت حفيظتنا بهن ولم نزل
دونin defense of النساءthe women إذاwhen فزعنthey took fright نغارwe feel protective jealousy
دون النساء إذا فزعن نغار
our protective zeal caught up with them, and we have never ceased
Our wrath o'ertook and we ceased not the chase
to stand in jealous defense of the women whenever they take fright.
