أرى الناس طراً حامدين لخالد

أرى الناس طراً حامدين لخالد

وما كلهم أفضت إليه صنائعه

وما كلهم أفضت إليه صنائعه

I see all the people praising Khalid,

I see people praising Khalid abundantly

though his favors have not reached them all.

Yet not all of them have benefited from his good deeds

ولن يترك الأقوام أن يمدحوا الفتى

ولن يترك الأقوام أن يمدحوا الفتى

إذا كرمت أخلاقه وطبائعه

إذا كرمت أخلاقه وطبائعه

And people will not refrain from praising a young man

And people will never stop praising a young man

when his character and disposition are noble:

Whose morals and nature are generous

فتى أمنعت ضراؤه في عدوه

فتى أمنعت ضراؤه في عدوه

وخصت وعمت في الصديق منافعه

وخصت وعمت في الصديق منافعه

a young man whose harm is formidable against his enemy,

A young man whose adversity harms his enemies

and whose benefits reach friends, each and all.

And whose benefits reach both friend and foe
