لاdo not تَسقِنيgive me drink بِيَدَيكَwith your two hands إِنif لَمnot أَغتَرِفI scoop up
لا تَسقِني بِيَدَيكَ إِن لَم أَغتَرِف
نِعمَlivestock الضَجوعُal-Ḍajūʿ بِغارَةٍin a raid أَسرابِbands
نِعمَ الضَجوعُ بِغارَةٍ أَسرابِ
Do not give me drink with your hands unless I scoop up
Do not make me drink from your hands if I do not draw near,
the herds of al-Ḍajūʿ in a raid of bands.
How fine to lie in wait for the flocks at the watering-place.
