سَمَونا بِالجِيادِ لِحَيِّ وَردٍ

سَمَونا بِالجِيادِ لِحَيِّ وَردٍ

فَلاقَوا بَعدَ وَقعَتِنا النَكيرا

فَلاقَوا بَعدَ وَقعَتِنا النَكيرا

We advanced on steeds against the clan of Ward.

So after our onslaught they met dire punishment.

أَبَدنا حَيَّ ذي البَزَرى وَكَعباً

أَبَدنا حَيَّ ذي البَزَرى وَكَعباً

وَمالِكَها وَأَهلَكنا بَشيرا

وَمالِكَها وَأَهلَكنا بَشيرا

We annihilated the clan of Dhū al-Bazrā, and Kaʿb,

And its Mālik, and we destroyed Bashīr.

وَقَرَّبنا الرِبابَةَ يَومَ فَجٍّ

وَقَرَّبنا الرِبابَةَ يَومَ فَجٍّ

إِلى هُلكٍ وَأَعلَقنا عَشيرا

إِلى هُلكٍ وَأَعلَقنا عَشيرا

We brought al-Ribāba close, on the day of Fajj,

To destruction, and ensnared ʿAshīr,

وَسَيّاراً فَتى سَعدِ بنِ بَكرٍ

وَسَيّاراً فَتى سَعدِ بنِ بَكرٍ

وَأَقعَصنا بِمَفروقٍ بَحيرا

وَأَقعَصنا بِمَفروقٍ بَحيرا

And Sayyār, a young man of Saʿd ibn Bakr;

And for Mafrūq we struck Baḥīr dead.
