أَلاAh! مَنwho مُبلِغٌone who conveys word أَسماءَAsmā’ عَنّيfrom me
أَلا مَن مُبلِغٌ أَسماءَ عَنّي
وَلَوand even if حَلَّتshe has settled بِيُمنٍin Yumn أَوor جُبارِJubār
وَلَو حَلَّت بِيُمنٍ أَو جُبارِ
Ah, who will carry word from me to Asmā’,
Oh, who will bear my greeting
even if she has settled in Yumn or Jubār,
To one who dwells amid the tents of Ḍu Jibār
بِأَنَّwith the news that حَليلَهاher husband دَرَهَتassailed عَلَيهِupon him
بِأَنَّ حَليلَها دَرَهَت عَلَيهِ
خُطوبٌcalamities لاnot تُفَرَّجُare dispelled بِالسِرارِby private conversation
خُطوبٌ لا تُفَرَّجُ بِالسِرارِ
that her husband has been assailed
And say that passion for her wastes my form,
by calamities that whispered words cannot dispel?
Though sore afflictions may such wish debar.
