برحمةِ الله ورضوانِهِ
فتىًa youth تحلّىwas adorned بالصّباwith youthfulness والحِجىand wisdom
فتىً تحلّى بالصّبا والحِجى
In God's mercy and His favor,
With God's mercy and pleasure
A youth adorned with youthfulness and wisdom.
A youth adorned with youthfulness and vitality
رجوتهI placed my hopes in him لِلدَّهرِfor the years to come مِلءَthe fullness of المُنىhopes
رجوته لِلدَّهرِ مِلءَ المُنى
فخانهthen it betrayed him الدَّهرُtime وخابَand failed الرَّجاhope
فخانه الدَّهرُ وخابَ الرَّجا
For the years to come, I placed all my hopes in him.
I wished for him a life filled with joy
But time betrayed him, and hope was dashed.
But fate betrayed him and hope was lost
سَقَاكَwatered you دمعيmy tears ياO ثرىًearth طاهراًpure
سَقَاكَ دمعي يا ثرىً طاهراً
زرعتُI planted حَوْلَيْهِaround it الأسىgrief والشجاand sorrow
زرعتُ حَوْلَيْهِ الأسى والشجا
My tears watered you, O pure earth.
My tears have watered you, O pure earth
Around it I planted grief and sorrow.
I have sown grief and anguish around him
قبرٌa grave حَوَىheld حِكمتَHikmat تأريخُهُits chronogram
قبرٌ حَوَى حِكمتَ تأريخُهُ
دفنتُI buried فهيso she/it is أملاًa hope مُرْتَجىlonged for
دفنتُ فهي أملاً مُرْتَجى
