أَحبِبْhow dear! بمروانَMarwan (exclamatory subject) طفلاًas a child واعتمدْهand rely on him فَتىًas a youth
أَحبِبْ بمروانَ طفلاً واعتمدْه فَتىً
وحَيّهand salute him رجُلاًas a man بالفضلwith excellence يزدانُhe is adorned
وحَيّه رجُلاً بالفضل يزدانُ
How dear is Marwan as a child; rely on him as a youth,
Love Marwan as a child and support him as a youth
and salute him as a man adorned with excellence.
And encourage him as a man with virtue to adorn him
نماهraised him للمجدto glory موروثاًinherited ومكتسباًand earned
نماه للمجد موروثاً ومكتسباً
أَبٌa father وأُمٌّand a mother هماthey both للمجدِof glory عنوانُan emblem
أَبٌ وأُمٌّ هما للمجدِ عنوانُ
To glory, inherited and earned, he was raised

لعلَّهاperhaps it is خيرُthe finest تأريخٍa chronogram يُقالis uttered بِهاconcerning it
لعلَّها خيرُ تأريخٍ يُقال بِها
نِعمَhow excellent! الخليفةthe successor فيamong الأبناءthe sons مروانMarwan
نِعمَ الخليفة في الأبناء مروان
