إذا ما لقيت الأكرم الندب فاعتذر

إليه عن التقصير في الحمد والشكر

When you meet the most generous, gallant man, apologize

When you meet the Generous, apologize

To him for falling short in praise and thanks.

For falling short in praise and gratitude,

وقل لا خلا منك الزمان ولا انطوى

وقل لا خلا منك الزمان ولا انطوى

بساطك من نهي مطاع ومن أمر

بساطك من نهي مطاع ومن أمر

And say: may time never be bereft of you, nor ever be rolled up

And say: Your time has not been empty of you,

Your carpet of heeded prohibitions and commands.

Nor has your generosity, command or kindness ceased.

فمازلت طلق الوجه في السخط والرضى

فمازلت طلق الوجه في السخط والرضى

حميد السجايا في التهجم والبشر

حميد السجايا في التهجم والبشر

For you have always been cheerful of face, in displeasure and contentment,

So you remain open-faced in anger or pleasure,

Praiseworthy in character, in frowning and good cheer.

Praiseworthy in aggression and reconciliation.

إذا ما تسحبنا عليك قبلتنا

إذا ما تسحبنا عليك قبلتنا

قبول رحيب الساح والراح والصدر

قبول رحيب الساح والراح والصدر

When we presume upon you, you receive us

When we direct our prayers to you,

With the welcome of one whose courtyard, palm, and breast are wide.

You welcome them openly and generously.
