Victory is among the companions of your resolve—so be resolute.

And Time is among the captives of your rule—so rule.

And time yields to your wise rule, so rule wisely

والحزم قبل العزم فاحزم واعزم

وإذا استبان لك الصواب فصمم

And prudence comes before resolve—so be prudent and resolute.

Have discipline before determination, so be disciplined and determined

And when the right course becomes clear to you, stand firm.

And when the right path is clear hold fast to it

واستعمل الرفق الذي هو مكسب

ذكر القلوب وجد وأجمل واحلم

And practice gentleness, which wins

Use gentle persuasion which yields gain

the hearts' remembrance; be generous, gracious, and forbearing.

It touches hearts, is beautiful, and forbears

واحرس وسس وأشجع ولز وأنعم

واصل وأعدل وادع واحفظ وارحم

And keep watch, govern, be brave, hold fast, and bestow favors.

Be on guard and prepare; be bold and draw near; be kind and bestow

Maintain ties, act justly, pray, protect, and show mercy.

Join together and be just; call others and preserve; show mercy

وإذا وعدت فعد بما تقوى على

And when you promise, promise what you are able to

fulfill; and when you bestow a favor, complete it.
