ونصرت ألوية الهدى بوقائع
أصبحتyou became فيهاin them ياO حسامHusam حساماa sword
أصبحت فيها يا حسام حساما
And you upheld the banners of guidance through battles
You supported the banners of guidance with events,
In which, O Husam, you became a sword.
In which you became, O sword, a sword.
ألوتwrought havoc بطرخانon Tarkhan بوادركyour sudden onslaughts التيwhich
ألوت بطرخان بوادرك التي
سبقتoutstripped إليهin reaching him الظنconjecture والأوهاماand imagination
سبقت إليه الظن والأوهاما
Your sudden onslaughts wrought havoc on Tarkhan—onslaughts that
You hit Tarkhan with your early strikes,
Outstripped conjecture and imagination in reaching him.
Which suspicions and illusions had preceded.
لولاhad it not been for الفرارflight وساترand a screen منof ظلمةdarkness
لولا الفرار وساتر من ظلمة
قسماتهhis facial features منهاthan it أشدmore intense ظلاماin darkness
قسماته منها أشد ظلاما
Had it not been for flight and a screen of darkness—
If not for fleeing and the veil of his darkness,
His features darker than that darkness itself—
His fate would have been even darker.

And divided it with its lips into parts.
وخلقتand you would have fashioned منfrom صمhard substance الصغارabasement (unclear in context) لرأسهfor his head
وخلقت من صم الصغار لرأسه
جسماًa body يزيدexceeding علىbeyond الجسومbodies تماماin completeness
جسماً يزيد على الجسوم تماما
And fashioned for his head, from the hard substance of abasement,
And created from the deafness of the young for his head,
A body surpassing other bodies in completeness.
A body exceeding wholeness.
رامhe sought الوزارةthe vizierate خاطباًas a suitor فأجبتهso you answered him
رام الوزارة خاطباً فأجبته
بفوارسwith horsemen أثنتهturned him away عماfrom what راماhe sought
بفوارس أثنته عما راما
He sought the vizierate as a suitor, so you answered him
He sought ministry wooing, so I answered him,
With horsemen who turned him from what he sought.
With knights who deterred him from what he sought.
قدindeed كانhe had been هامlovesick بهاfor her فلماthen when عقتهyou barred him
قد كان هام بها فلما عقته
عنfrom وصلهاunion with her ركبhe mounted الفرارflight وهاماand wandered
عن وصلها ركب الفرار وهاما
He had indeed been lovesick for her; then, when you barred him
He was obsessed with it, but when I made him
From union with her, he rode off in flight and wandered.
