يا أكرم الحاضر والبادي

O most generous of townsfolk and desert dwellers,

O most generous of those present and absent,

And knight of the cavalcade and the assembly,

And knight of procession and club,

ويا ذباب الأبيض المنتضي

ويا ذباب الأبيض المنتضي

عزماً ونصل الصعدة الصادي

عزماً ونصل الصعدة الصادي

And O point of the unsheathed white sword,

And O white buzzing bee,

in resolve, and thirsty spearhead of the straight lance!

With determination and sharp conquering sword,

وافى كتاب منك مضمونه

وافى كتاب منك مضمونه

شكرك عن بري وإسعادي

شكرك عن بري وإسعادي

A letter arrived from you, its contents:

A letter has reached me from you, whose content

your thanks for my kindness and assistance.

Was thanking me for kindness and making me happy,

بدأت بالحسنى فجازيتها

بدأت بالحسنى فجازيتها

والفضل في الإحسان للبادي

والفضل في الإحسان للبادي

You began with kindness, so I repaid it;

You started with good deeds, so I rewarded them,

And in doing good, the credit belongs to the initiator.

For the merit in charity is for the initiator,

فثق بودي وأعتقد أنني

فثق بودي وأعتقد أنني

لمن يناويك بمرصاد

لمن يناويك بمرصاد

So trust in my affection, and believe that I

So trust my affection, and know that I

lie in wait for whoever opposes you.

Am on the lookout for anyone with ill intentions towards you,

وسل من الله تجد منعماً

وسل من الله تجد منعماً

طول حياة الناصر الهادي

طول حياة الناصر الهادي

And ask God—you will find Him bestowing favors—

And ask God, you will find, for the duration of the life of the victorious guide,

for a long life for al-Nasir al-Hadi.

A bestower of bounty,
