To your bounty, save my reproach of your generosity.

You belittled the worth of an affection I had held in high esteem.

Far be it from your concern to harm your lofty aspirations.

in glory, their feet falter behind your stride.
Whose feet, in glory, falter behind your own.

You swore by God for fear of dealing with me,

And, by God's truth, I care nothing about your oath.

How then shall I lay my needs, whenever they arise,
And how can I lodge my needs, when they arise,
before the Kaaba of bounty, when al-Baṭḥāʾ lies within your sanctuary?
At generosity's Kaaba, while al-Batha lies within your sanctuary?

By a light of knowledge kindled upon your mountain.
