I come to Alexandria; they have never held back—

The hands of al-Ma'mun's sons—nor has their perfume failed me.

يصاحبني في كل أرض نوالهم

كأن أياديهم معي أبداً سفر

كأن أياديهم معي أبداً سفر

Their bounty accompanies me in every land,

As though their favors were forever my fellow travelers.

أمنت بموسى كيد دهري وسحره

إذا حل موسى بلدة يطل السحر

إذا حل موسى بلدة يطل السحر

Through Musa, I am safe from my age's guile and sorcery;

When Musa settles in a town, sorcery comes to naught.

كأن جميع الناس إلا أقلهم

مساو لدنيانا وموسى لها عذر

As though all people, save a very few,

Are blemishes on our world, and Musa its excuse.
