ومد سبقاً إلى العلياء من جارى

O you who embolden wrongdoers by offering excuses,

O you who graciously offers excuses to a neighbor,

and give whoever competes a lead toward the heights,

And who hastily extends a hand to the noblest of men,

رتب على الباب إنساناً له أدب

رتب على الباب إنساناً له أدب

وعشرة يلتقي بالبشر من زارا

وعشرة يلتقي بالبشر من زارا

station at the door a man with good manners

Arrange for a courteous and refined doorman

and sociability, who welcomes every visitor cheerfully;

Who meets people with kindness when they come to visit.

ومجلباً خالياً باسم الجلوس ولا

ومجلباً خالياً باسم الجلوس ولا

يرى علينا إذا جئناه إنكارا

يرى علينا إذا جئناه إنكارا

and provide a vacant gathering place designated for sitting; and let him not

And a vacant sitting room—but do not let

find cause to rebuke us when we come to him.

فلي ثلاثة أيام أعود على الدهليز

أبسط عند الناس أعذارا

For three days I have kept returning to the vestibule,

وللدهاليز أرباب الظلامة لا

أهل الكرامة إجلالاً وإقدارا

أهل الكرامة إجلالاً وإقدارا

And vestibules are for those with grievances, not

But porches are for those who love the darkness, not

people of honor, who deserve reverence and esteem.
