ماnot ضرنيharmed me غدرtreachery اللياليthe nights وقدand indeed
ما ضرني غدر الليالي وقد
وفيremained faithful ليto me السمعhearing ونورand the light البصرsight
وفي لي السمع ونور البصر
The nights’ treachery has done me no harm, for
The treachery of the nights has not harmed me, for
my hearing and the light of my sight remain faithful to me.

ولاnor خباdimmed مصباحlamp ذكريmy memory وليand I have
ولا خبا مصباح ذكري ولي
فكرmind سليمsound ولسانand a tongue ذكرeloquent

Nor has the lamp of my renown dimmed; I still possess
