O caller of generosity residing in Sandafa
جودbounty تشرفlooked out ناظراهits two eyes فزارنيso it visited me
جود تشرف ناظراه فزارني
كرماًout of generosity ولمand not أكI was نحوهtoward it متشوفاlooking expectantly
كرماً ولم أك نحوه متشوفا
Bounty looked out with both its eyes, then visited me,
Your generosity overlooks its viewers, so you visited me
generously, though I was not looking toward it expectantly.
With generosity while I was not hoping for it
نزهتهI exalted it عنabove موعدa promise يغدوbecomes الندىgenerosity
نزهته عن موعد يغدو الندى
بنجازهfor its fulfillment ليfor me آملاًhoping ومسوفاand putting it off
بنجازه لي آملاً ومسوفا
I held it above a promise that would leave generosity
I kept it away from the tryst where the dew flows
hoping to fulfill it for me, yet putting it off.
With fulfilling it for me, hopeful and awaiting
وافىit arrived كباردةlike a cool one الغمامthe clouds إذاwhen سرتit journeyed by night
وافى كباردة الغمام إذا سرت
فتقدمتso it advanced عنahead of رعدهاits thunder وتخلفاand it lagged behind
فتقدمت عن رعدها وتخلفا
It came like a cool cloud as it journeyed by night,
It came like the coolness of the clouds when they move
outstripping its thunder, which lagged behind.
So it advanced ahead of their thunder and lagged behind
قلtell ليme فداكyour ransom الأكرمونthe noblest ولاand may not غدتbecome
قل لي فداك الأكرمون ولا غدت
طيرthe birds المنىwishes إلاexcept ببابكat your door وكفاalighting
طير المنى إلا ببابك وكفا
Tell me—may the noblest be your ransom, and may
Say to me, may you be ransomed, the most generous
the birds of wishes alight nowhere but at your door—
The birds of purpose only alight at your door and stop

وكتبتand you wrote تسألyou ask فيabout قبولacceptance مثوبةa reward
وكتبت تسأل في قبول مثوبة
منهاfor them ببابكat your door منعماًbestowing favor ومشرفاand bestowing honor
منها ببابك منعماً ومشرفا
And you wrote asking me to accept a reward
You wrote asking to accept rewarded
for them, bestowing favor and honor at your door.
