رأيت أبا القنص ضاقت به
مذاهبهhis paths فيin التماسseeking المعاشa livelihood
مذاهبه في التماس المعاش
I saw Abu al-Qans; straitened for him were
I saw the hunter whose means of livelihood
his paths in seeking a livelihood.
Had narrowed as he searched for sustenance
ومنand from حبهhis love فيfor ذواتthose possessing القرونhorns
ومن حبه في ذوات القرون
غداhe became وهوand he نائبdeputy دارhouse of الكباشthe rams
غدا وهو نائب دار الكباش
And out of his love for horned creatures,
And out of his love for horned beasts
he became deputy of the House of Rams.
He frequented the abode of sheep
