أرادhe sought علوelevation منزلةrank وقدرand standing
أراد علو منزلة وقدر
فأصبحso he became فوقabove جذعa tree trunk وهوwhile he was عاليhigh
فأصبح فوق جذع وهو عالي
He sought high rank and standing.
He desired an exalted position and esteem
So he ended up above a tree trunk, raised high.
So he perched atop a lofty tree trunk
ومدand he stretched out علىupon صليبthe cross of الجذعthe tree trunk منهfrom him
ومد على صليب الجذع منه
يميناًa right hand لاnot تطولprevails علىover الشمالthe left hand
يميناً لا تطول على الشمال
And upon the tree trunk's cross he stretched out
And stretched out his right upon the trunk's cross
His right hand, with no sway over the left.
Not leaning left in the slightest
ونكسand he lowered رأسهhis head لعتابto reproach قلبa heart
ونكس رأسه لعتاب قلب
دعاهcalled him إلىto الغوايةwaywardness والضلالand error
دعاه إلى الغواية والضلال
And he lowered his head to reproach a heart
And bowed his head in rebuke of a heart
That had called him to waywardness and error.
That called him to temptation and misguidance
