من الرعد حادٍ ليس يبصر أكمه
When the heavy clouds draw near and are urged onward
When heavy clouds draw near, driven on
by thunder—a camel-driver, sightless and blind from birth—
By thunder loud that sees not where it's going,
أحاديثهhis tales مستهولاتterrifying وصوتهand his voice
أحاديثه مستهولات وصوته

إذا انخفضت أصواتهن مقهقه
his tales are terrifying, and his voice,
Its talk confused, its voice a mighty roar -
when their voices subside, laughs aloud.
If their voices sink low, muttering,

يجاوبه من خلفه صاحب له
When he cries out in their wake, you would think
If behind their traces it calls out, you'd think
a companion of his was answering him from behind.
Some comrade of its own makes answer back.
