إن منشا قد زاد في التيه

وزاد في شامنا تعديه

Mansha has grown in arrogance,

and his aggression in our Syria has grown.

فلا ابن هندٍ ولا ابن ذي يزنٍ

ولا ابن ماء السما يدانيه

Neither the son of Hind nor the son of Dhi Yazan,

nor the son of Ma’ al-Sama comes near him.

وهو مغيظ على الوصي ومن

يعزى إليه ومن يواليه

He is enraged at the designated successor and those

affiliated with him or loyal to him.

يذكر أيام خيبرٍ بهم

فهم قذىً جال في أماقيه

They remind him of the days of Khaybar;

they are grit moving in the corners of his eyes.

وقد حكى أن فاه أطيب من

سرمي وأني ممن يعاديه

He has claimed that his mouth smells sweeter than

my anus, and that I am among those who oppose him,

ومن يقول القبيح فيه ومن

أصبح بالمعضرت يرميه

who say ugly things about him, and who

have taken to hurling abuse at him.

فسوكوه بكل طيبة الر

ريح تعفى على مساويه

So brush his teeth with every sweet-smelling

scent that might cover his faults.

ومضمضوه بالخل واجتهدوا

معاً بكل اجتهادكم فيه

Rinse his mouth with vinegar, and exert

all your efforts on him together.

وأطعموه من الجوارش ما

يعمل بالمسك والأفاويه

Feed him digestive preparations

made with musk and aromatic spices.

وأنهلوه من خمرٍ معتقةٍ

قد صانها القس في خوابيه

Give him aged wine to drink,

kept by the priest in his jars.

واستفقحوني واستنكهوه تروا

أن لسرمي فضلاً على فيه

Have me bare my backside and smell his breath; you will see

that my anus has the advantage over his mouth.

وأحملوا الكلب والحمار على

عياله واصفعوا محبيه

Set the dog and the donkey upon

his family, and slap those who love him.
