إن منشا قد زاد في التيه

وزاد في شامنا تعديه

Manshā has indeed grown in arrogance,

And his transgressions in our Syria have increased.

فلا ابن هندٍ ولا ابن ذي يزنٍ

ولا ابن ماء السما يدانيه

So neither Ibn Hind nor Ibn Dhī Yazan

Nor Ibn Māʾ al-Samāʾ can rival him.

وهو مغيظ على الوصي ومن

يعزى إليه ومن يواليه

And he is enraged at the Legatee and those

Who trace their descent to him, and those loyal to him.

يذكر أيام خيبرٍ بهم

فهم قذىً جال في أماقيه

Through them he recalls the days of Khaybar;

So they are grit swirling in the corners of his eyes.

وقد حكى أن فاه أطيب من

سرمي وأني ممن يعاديه

And he has claimed that his mouth smells sweeter than

My anus, and that I am among his enemies,

ومن يقول القبيح فيه ومن

أصبح بالمعضرت يرميه

And those who speak ill of him, and those who

Have begun pelting him with filth [word uncertain].

فسوكوه بكل طيبة الر

ريح تعفى على مساويه

So brush his teeth with every pleasant

Scent that might efface his foulness.

ومضمضوه بالخل واجتهدوا

معاً بكل اجتهادكم فيه

And rinse his mouth with vinegar, and labor

Together over him with all your effort.

وأطعموه من الجوارش ما

يعمل بالمسك والأفاويه

And feed him those digestive confections that

Are made with musk and aromatic spices.

وأنهلوه من خمرٍ معتقةٍ

قد صانها القس في خوابيه

And give him a draught of aged wine

That the priest has kept safe in his jars.

واستفقحوني واستنكهوه تروا

أن لسرمي فضلاً على فيه

And sniff my anus and smell his breath; you will see

That my anus has the advantage over his mouth.

وأحملوا الكلب والحمار على

عياله واصفعوا محبيه

And make the dog and the donkey mount

His household, and slap those who love him.
